PW NYC and DC are 3x a week, barely enforced (you have to be bad and absences have to be egregious). Also remote week of Thanksgiving, Christmas and two remote weeks in August. No plans to change that bc it’s a decent recruitment tool, and partners like their summer houses
PW is now back 4 days … remote on Fridays… smh
Sheppard requires 3 days a week in office. There have been exceptions made for some people, but to my knowledge they were all with the firm pre-COVID.
I don’t know how intensely it is enforced, though.
Interesting. That’s definitely not the official policy, but maybe it’s what they are communicating to first years.
My understanding is that King & Spalding has not rolled out an official, written in-office time requirement. However, I had a one-on-one call with my PGL earlier this year who communicated that it is the firm’s expectation that associates default to 5 days in a week.
Reed Smith official policy is in office on Tue-Thu “anchor days” but there is zero enforcement mechanism or consequence for non-compliance. As a new person you would probably want to be in per the policy (at least at first) to make a good impression, but it’s also office and group specific. I hear NYC is a ghost town, for example, so if you’d be based there, you wouldn’t be an outlier to also not go in much. So I’d ask about the specific group/office you’re interested in because the firm itself has no overriding horrible punishment for noncompliance.
Winston has 4 days in office with 12 flex days, but not enforced.
Perkins is requiring multiple days a week starting this year, and it’s not super clear how much it’ll matter. They claim lack of in office attendance will be a factor in promotions but not compensation.
Alston is more often than not
I believe Debevoise NY is in office 3-4 days per week; DC office is more like 2-3 days.
Cravath is 2 anchor days plus a third day in office.
