Hi fishes! The hiring manager has asked me for salary expectations of B6 Data Analyst and my experience is 3.5 yrs with a CTC of 6.65. Considering I have to move to Bangalore l'm thinking of asking 13 or 14.. is it a big ask? If so, what do you think is a good ask? Please help. Thanks in advance :)

Logically- Check a salary equivalent calculator. You are probably looking more at NYC being 160-180k to even match. Do you use a financial planner? Might be good to spend a couple bucks to have a plan/budget/whatever.
Emotionally- Just do the damn thing. When you get tired of buying $20 martinis, streets filled with trash, and waking up in Brooklyn lofts shared with 8-12 people you can move. It's fun for awhile, and you don't get the time back.
Single M in your 20s - you are destined for NYC.
You’d give up the great outdoors and legal weed for pollution and living with a million roommates to save enough for lunch? List out those experiences you think you’re missing, I don’t see the appeal to NYC but that’s just me.
Grew up on the beaches of NC and go to Florida a couple times a month to visit family, that’ll be my next move for sure. Lived in Texas for a little bit and spent a summer in Hawaii, After moving away from the water I’m dying to get back. I’d recommend Hawaii but way to expensive haha. I just don’t have that desire of the big Apple it’s such a different vibe I don’t like, I like visiting friends but would never live there. You have time with whatever you decide though, you could move and love it.
Personally Denver cause I’m a huge outdoors guy but it’s up to what you want to do. I’m not into NYC at all.
NYC BABYYY. It's easy to move to Denver, not so easy to move to NYC, especially as you get older and your base expected standard of living increases.

Stay in Denver. Most likely you are traveling all week and only at home on the weekends. Travel to NYC on the weekends, you are charging your client for the flight anyway. You are going to save more and enjoy NYC the same. Trust me, I’ve lived in both. Lived in Denver for 5 years and now in NYC for the last 6 years.
Meh Denver. I thought I would LOVE living in nyc. The major difference is the that i can get some spicy noodles that are slightly different from the ones in other cities. All developed cities in the US kinda have the same things imo. NYC is just more expensive.
Is ~140k not enough to get a nice 1/1 in NYC??
Honestly Queens and Brooklyn are fine and substantially cheaper. I find myself going to either of those most weekends anyways. You can get a decent 1 bedroom for 2.5k in queens. Closer to 3k in BK. Manhattan is overrated imo, but nyc is great on the whole. I’m from Texas and while it may be cheaper, it’s boring as hell. If camping or the outdoors is truly important to you can find groups and ways to do that here.
NYC all the way; it isn’t about money...life experience of living in NYC while young and single! Also, when you jump to your next NYC gig you’ll get a good bump. Yeah the COL and accommodations suck; but everyone has to deal with that anyway. Totally do it; one life to live! Even if you save more in Denver; it ain’t all about money...but life experiences.
Agree with C1. Go for at least two years and enjoy it.
Depends on what experinces you want to get vs the value of saving money, nyc is definitely a very different vibe from Denver so ultimately it depends on what you value more

Knowing this, I'd say check out Philly. Way more accessible, less congested, much more affordable. Still a city, and you can go to NYC if you want.
I lived in NYC and Philly for years. Couldn't make up my mind, and I split the difference in Princeton now.
I live in a studio, albeit a nice one, for just under 3k a month. I made 110k and it's not a big stretch. I just don't go out all the time and spend money unwisely, I pack lunches, etc. Honestly, at your salary you have enough to save and live a little.
Plus if you make 160k in NYC, if you leave to somewhere else (maybe Denver) you can say I won't take less than my current salary to move. That's my plan.
20k is basically a cola adjustment, I’d say do it

I went to NYC in my early 20s and loved it! It’s an amazing experience - especially in your 20s. I moved to Texas for a few years in my late 20s and missed it - moved back here now that I’m 31. It’s a diff vibe now that I’m married and whatnot but still awesome. Do it for you Op!
