Any $ in NYC for me.
Depends what kind of city you want to live in.
Haha no colder than other northeast cities, but yes of course compared to DFW. Worth the trade-off for me.

Better value? DFW.
Better city? NYC.
Well. I would never try to start a family in NYC. DFW have some of the best schools in the country.

Posts like this are always so weird to me. Are people really just chasing money/COL and not just living where they want to be?

SC1 Lol it would be entitled to say “why can’t everybody afford where they want to be?”
That’s not what these comparisons are. These are always about wildly different locations and asking about where they should live based on different salaries, almost always where both would be adequately sufficient. Even asking if a certain salary is sufficient for a specified cost of living in a given city makes more sense — though those posts are usually delusional about what a normal standard of living is.
Double the NY number and you'd have the same standard of living as Dallas on 180k
This one better, M1?
NYC >>>>> DFW
Dfw
No amount of money would make living in Dallas worth it. Maybe fly first class someplace else every weekend would, but it’d be close.

New York. Dallas is a garbage “city” in a garbage state. 205K is enough to be comfortable in NYC.
There’s no amount of money that would attract me to live anywhere in Texas. New York would be the right answer even if the pay were lower.
From a financial perspective that’s a lot more money in DFW. But what’s important to you? Do you have family in either location?
I’d personally never want to live in Dallas, so NYC 100/100 times.
205k in NYC would be the equivalent (roughly) of 150k in Dallas. 180k will go much further in DFW than NYC by far. There are tons of cheap areas that are nice quality in DFW.
Lol all the hate to DFW. To each their own I guess. Just funny how much it takes to check peoples boxes on what they need to be happy. It’s cheap, has basic amenities anyone needs to live and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to live. All I personally need
Moved from NY to Dallas. God, I hated it there and couldn’t wait to leave. I’d take 150k in NY v. 180k in DFW
Loooong gone
Anything but Texas. Dallas is an ugly city in a conservative state, NYC for sure unless you hate the lifestyle it brings. $200k should be comfy in NYC.
Dfw
Dfw you need a car so consider that
NYC
Rising Star
Depends on the lifestyle you want.
$180k in DFW is much more money
DFW ain’t 💩
There is reason why lot of new yorkers left city to move to southern state. It's crowded, horrible expensive and people are as nasty as dfw. Also weatherwise I will take sunny dfw over snowy nyc. NYC is garbage city for wlb. So much traffic, you are just going to chase life rather than enjoying it. NYC have better career prospects though
Dfw is a better city... I'm not sure what it would take for me to live in NY... But a lot more than that

A4 neither D or FW counts as a city. They’re a conglomeration of suburbs. Basically LA if it had no culture, worse weather, and boring people.
