2019 i was laid off and now 6 months later, still no offer after final rounds at BCG and this week McKinsey (just had my rejection call few days ago)

If you could restart your career, would you still choose accounting? I have a lot of friends who work in finance, real estate, etc. and make the same or more, and didn’t have to take the CPA. However, I love the stability to being an accountant.

What kinds of roles do S1s usually jump to?

I currently have a Master of Arts in Public Administration and am trying to break out of the realm of government and law enforcement.. that being said, I have been pondering the idea of getting certified in Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and sustainable business. Would this be worth the investment or should I leave that to people with a heavy finance background? Just want to be more marketable since my main background is in law enforcement data analysis.

Hi does anyone have health anxiety while working out? Haven’t worked out since September and really scared of going back to the gym because I gained some weight and I become very panicky when my heart rate goes high. Anyone has any tips on how I can go back to the gym and go back to enjoying my workouts?

I thought I was getting better (was currently working with my doc to slowly taper off my antidepressant) but my anxiety attacks are coming back. I think I’m just not meant to be unmedicated. I ended up requesting to go back to my original dosage

I have been at my job for 6 years. I’m upset about how our pay raise went and I’m thinking about looking for a new job. The anxiety is overwhelming when it comes to this. I’ve suffered from workaholism for a long time. Thanks to a lot of great self help books and therapy, I’m no longer putting work on a pedestal and I’m spending a lot more time on self care and my marriage. But, unfortunately, I am now getting withdrawals, because my body is used to the daily adrenaline of throwing myself into work. It’s this terrible feeling of like anguish/unease in my gut, but I don’t have anything I’m worried about- it’s like my body wants to find something to worry about.

What “self help” books are you guys reading? I just read Untamed by Glennon Doyle and wow, I want to start from the beginning again, but feel like I should read something else. Would love any suggestions.

Often feel betrayed by my Ps when they question my work in front of the client, only to be proven otherwise. Happened many times and I don’t know how to change this - my integrity and work quality is questioned publicly and after much due diligence it gets proven that I did really good. What do I do?

5 years post-MBA and all my classmates are VPs in industry or Principals in consulting/IB (some are even Partners/MDs already). I sat in the same classes with these folks for 2 years — probably outperformed some of them academically. Yet, here I am continuing to struggle with my student debt payments, hoping that “Uncle Joe” forgives 20% of it. I’ll never have that kind of earning potential because I didn’t come from the “right background” pre-MBA.
