650k. Anyone telling you to take 400k less and live in Dallas doesn’t know anything about NYC or they’re crazy. With 650k you can afford a very very nice home in Brooklyn or queens and an even nicer home in Staten Island. Or you can just move out to Westchester. That’s a quick ride on the train to grand central. Bottom line. You’ll live like kings in nyc with 650k.

I make $600k in ny and live in long island which has high property taxes but great public school. My wife stays at home and we have 3 kids. $600k goes a looong way.

NYC for that money easily. Dallas gets boring quick. You can just be a snowbird during the winter.
Winter is fine in Dallas .. agree on Dallas being boring
If you have kids or plan on having kids soon, definitely Dallas. If not, then it’s up to what lifestyle you prefer.
Why definitely Dallas if you have kids?
Choose it for your kids, go to nyc please!
600K. Just wondering what does your husband do?
Pro
Take the $600k. Those are harder to find. The $250k job will always be there any time you decide to switch.
I’d push for 1 trillion in Arkansas it’s about as realistic as this post.
🤣🤣🤣
There’s a reason everyone and their dog is moving to Texas and leaving CA and NY. Better quality of life in every aspect. Except for the Sumer heat.
The reason is because of the cost of living lol. Which is more than made up for by the 350k salary difference.
What a daft question.
First of all, why would you ever want to live in Dallas
I heard it’s boring too
Why do people always think that we are flexing here? This is anonymous so flexing doesn’t do anything for anyone. This post was not a flex
“We”.....lol
A person capable of making 600k obviously has enough intelligence/life experience to easily know the answer to this question. I, a peasant SC making a mere 150k can answer this without even reading the rest of the sentence after 600k
It’s a flex....a major flex.....but I appreciate it. Motivational....

$600K in NYC and don’t look back. That’s amazing comp even here and you’ll be very comfortable.
As cities go, NYC is awesome and Dallas has nothing going for it. This one’s a no brainer.
600k in NYC all the way.
Money aside because I think 600K speaks for itself, would you really want to live in a state that attacks the rights of women? That’s the lens I would look with. I don’t know if you have daughters, but I personally would never want to raise children especially girls in a state like that.
There is not enough money in the country to convince me to live in Texas.
please, can you shed some light into what types of roles pay $600k??
1MM isn't wild?? What are you talking about???
Yeesh! What are the offers for? Selling you lung versus selling a kidney?

Plot twist. Convince to take the 600k. Then divorce him. Then you move back to dallas, and live off of alimony which will be way better than from 250k income!
Can't believe this is even a discussion. You can live comfortably on $200K in NYC. Meaning you can save/invest $250K per year. Do this for 5 years and retire (assuming someone offered $650K already has a solid investment portfolio).
You need $3 mil a year

Lol it feels ridic but when I’m running the numbers it suddenly gets less obvious. In my 20s I never bought into the whole nyc is so much more expensive. My rent was higher but food, cabs were about the same as anywhere else and flights and pedicures were actually cheaper ha. As I “settle down” tho I’m seeing what ppl mean. Housing for four is pricier even out in the ny burbs and if we stay in Manhattan, private schools are likely and they’re 2-3x higher in cost here than other metros. I’m willing to live a bit out of way from Manhattan but husband has to go into the city 5x/week so anything more than 30 min commute would be suboptimal. Again I know it seems like an obvious choice but life with kids is incredibly expensive

Imagine choosing to live in Texas, ever...
