Job has up to 80% travel PwC
How is typically life for these positions requiring travel? This is for a SWE position.
Currently work with clients is remote as stated by the recruiter. If work is currently feasible through virtual means, will there be flexibility to choose to travel for this position?

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the local-model consulting firms yet. I think Slalom would be a great fit. They’re on a local model.
Most MBB/B4 will require travel if there aren’t local
projects matching the skill set. Smaller firms are the way to go. Slalom is a good idea.
I’m not sure there is a specific type of consultant that doesn’t travel, it’s more about firms that don’t travel (i.e. LEK) or aligning yourself to something that keeps you close to home. I’m just a regular old strategy consultant, could be traveling 80%, but I live in a city that happens to have a high concentration of clients in the industry I specialize in, so all of my clients are local.
Bain is pretty good about giving moms local projects.
Hey SA 1- thank you for your input. Could you shed some more light on firms that don’t travel?
Why does she want consulting? Are there other jobs that don’t travel that would be good?
The expert track that firms offer pays less than the generalist/partner track but is less demanding and doesn't require travel
I would say target big cities ...easy to find projects in vicinity. E.g bay area, New York etc
Hey D - thanks for the suggestion. She is based out of Chicago. Cannot relocate considering she just had a baby. Would there be a consulting practice at Deloitte which requires min travel? Would appreciate the help
I have no idea what other firms don’t travel (I’m with the Big 4), I’ve heard LEK doesn’t travel, but otherwise it might just be boutique, smaller firms which she would just have to research directly.
