A friend recently accepted a fully remote role with a significant pay cut. Meanwhile, my company switched to 5 days in the office this year, and with the open-concept setup I’m finding it really hard to focus. The noise and constant activity make it difficult to concentrate on anything.i’ve started exploring the market, but it seems like every remote role gets hundreds of applications within hours of being posted. Is the competition really that intense right now?

I applied for a position through a recruiter and made it through the interview rounds with the actual company and received a verbal offer, but haven’t heard back since. Am I able to reach out directly to HR for updates or does all communication have to be filtered through the recruiter?

Recruiter emailed and told me that I applied for the wrong job because it was a more creative role - I have a creative background and education... anyone else feeling pigeon holed?

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.
