Any entertaining stories about opposing counsel just losing their mind on you in court or over the phone? How do you respond to opposing counsel who is being rude, unreasonable, or verbally abusive?

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. My previous manager would track us by hours daily, made a fuss everytime anything stretched and guilt us for that and the unplanned leave too unless it was COVID. Hinted him a lot of time, this is problematic but apparently he considered it "standard practice for agile".

Now 8/10 teammates have switched within < 1 year of project start (6-7 months with him) which tbh had good work in our opinion and even team was fun to work with even though none of us ever met in person.

I think I may have made a huge mistake today. My skip level director sent out an email about something and asked us for feedback. I sent back a note and provided some. What kind of split does your firm give you for bringing in cases? Trying to negotiate with my firm for an increase. Currently, I get 15% plus my base salary.

4th year at a mid size PI firm. Got pulled from litigating MVAs to help this solo we hired start a med Mal/nursing home practice. 1 year in and it looks like I’m two steps backwards in terms of getting paid because we’re a year or more out from a lot of the fees hitting. I respect the solo a lot, he’s a mentor, but I’ve got kids and I gotta get paid. Trying not to burn bridges, but I can’t wait years to get cut in. Advice?

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??

What’s the learning curve making the move from ID to PI? 6th year at an ID firm and just got an offer from a good PI firm, but just nervous bc I’ve never been on the plaintiffs end before.

What are good KPIs for personal injury support staff?

I have a dumb question... I have my first jury trial coming up in a few months. It's a 3-day auto accident trial. I'm the plaintiff attorney. My question is, should I have my client present the entire three days, or am I okay to tell them that they're fine to leave after they testify?

I'm a 6th year attorney in NYC. Strictly defense work; started out with the City Law Dept, did a year and a half of med mal/construction, and for past year and a half have been at a well known defense firm working on high exposure construction accident cases. Contemplating taking a couple interviews at plaintiff's firms to see if there is a good fit. Does anyone have any advice on how approach discussions about compensation and what a market level comp package would or should look like?

What's your preference for plaintiff's side? Steady pay at approximately $120k with no bonuses, or a base salary of $70k plus a cut of what you close over a minimum threashold? Midwest-ish market. In both situations, you get a cut of what you bring in.
