Is HARMAN really recruiting for permanent remote roles? Would they ask us to come to office after sometime? I am a bachelor woman supporting my sickly parents and can't move them out of city. And my city don't have harman office. HR did mention permanent remote, still want to confirm as I've heard many cases people were called back across different product based companies. Jesus. I’d say that’s super reasonable to ask for some details before giving 4 hours of your time. But I’d personally avoid the “4 hours is a big investment” language
FWIW this is completely standard at tech companies.
Your interviews establish what level you’d come in at and that therefore determines your salary, equity, etc. Most roles have the same title for years, but your internal level changes. As an example, I have been a program manager for years but went from L3 to L5 with promotions.

Yep! I remember a few years ago Uber’s creative dept wanted to interview me, and it was a 6 hour day. Turned it down because I was freelancing at an agency on a day rate and didn’t want to trade $1400 to interview for a creative dept I didn’t know much about (almost exactly like this). It feels like dating that escalates too fast...”I like you, but I don’t 4-6 hours like you”
I dunno man. A 4hr talk about me might be nice for a change. Getting tired of farming mounts in WoW.
@ECD1 - As someone who once used a Chinese gold farm back in 2008 I appreciated this reply
Agreeing with Google. This is standard. It may be a lateral title but for significantly more pat. Long 4-6 hour panel interviews are normal.
I usually ask the salary band in the first HR or recruiter email to get a sense of what level they’re targeting me for upfront.
It’s a big warning flag to not talk salary before such a meeting. Had that happen a few times and it never ends well. Usually it a ploy by the agency to get you to fall in love with them so it’s easier to negotiate you down.
This wasn’t an agency, it’s a tech company
I went ~15 rounds on interviews in 3 jobs last year. All client side or start up. They expect half of day or a full say or your time (or more) for interviews with everyone. Def have the salary convo upfront and speak in ranges. If you’re talking to a low level talent coordinator, and they duck it, push to speak to someone who can give you more Info.
All the jobs I’ve interviewed with recently ranged from 4 to 9 (!!) interviews. With each one being about an hour each, would say that’s standard across the board. The job I went with... totaled in 9 hours of interviews (but spread across 3 weeks)
