Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Follow up with the recruiter
Heard back from recruiter same day. 2 weeks is not too eager - would definitely follow up to at least get a status update.
And please don’t send a thank you email to the MD two weeks late.
Agree. Follow up now
Sometimes MDs aren’t allowed to reach out. Contact the recruiter
Same thing happened to me. The MD gave me a verbal offer and said recruiter would be reaching out formal offer. 2.5 weeks later, nothing. Even with me emailing/calling him, but it was around the holidays. Finally got through to him by contacting the first recruiter who did my initial phone screen. Def reach out to recruiter and or MD if they said you could reach out to them.
The MD had made it clear that I should keep in touch with the recruiter so I’ll be reaching out to them
Follow up. Show eagerness.
