So I posted on LinkedIn that our firm was hiring, and a friend responded asking for a referral. They are a great person and friend, but an awful worker…what would you do here? I don’t want to be an a$$hole but I also don’t feel good about putting my reputation on the line by referring them.

What can I do outside the office to boost my resume and be a substantially more attractive candidate for top consulting firms in ~12 months time. Working in disputes and valuation role but want to go into management consulting next year (post MBA role). I feel like my job isn’t enough because skills aren’t considered as transferable outside this field.

Just jumped from 60K —> 110K after 2 years of being very underpaid although being considered a “top performer”.

If you’re on the fence about jumping to another firm or starting to look elsewhere, realize that loyalty is often only skin deep in consulting. Prioritize your career goals, whether they be financial otherwise. Praise and appreciation are nice, but don’t let ANYONE make you feel bad about choices you make for your happiness.
