CFA registration gives you their E-book and their Q-bank and mock exams. If that’s all you want then that’s all you need. Their mocks are the most like the real deal so highly recommend taking those close to exam time.
Just recently passed all of mine and I used Kaplan for level 1 and Mark Meldrum for 2-3. Meldrum is better. His videos are great and I think most of his old ones are on YouTube for free for level 1 although some of the test material has changed. His mock exams are sometimes tougher than the CFA ones but help you prepare. I always liked having print copies of the curriculum. Costs more than the basic curriculum but might not hurt to see if work will help pay for any of your prep materials. Happy to answer any other questions. Best of luck!
Thank you! I really appreciate this!
I used Wiley study material (cheapest option ~£200) it covers everything and focuses in on important topics. Nail the fundamentals; get stuck into CFA official question bank; make notes of ones you got wrong; rinse and repeat. You got this 😁
Thank you!
Used Schweser for all 3 levels and did all in a sitting. 6 months preparation for each. I ignored the curriculum completely as it was too lengthy. Plus I work 9-5 and only had evenings and weekends to study. The key is consistency in studying. Go over the study texts at least twice. Practice as many questions as you can and use the questions provided by CFA in the study pack. Practice , Practice and Practice! All the best😍
The CFA exam is not easy and is considered one of the hardest exams in the world. You will need to study for at least 6 months for each level.
100% dependent on how much knowledge a person is walking in with. Currently studying this from scratch as a requirement for my early career equities program so I’m taking six months
You have three attempts per level.
You’ll be like the Cousin Vinny of the financial world. 🤣
I am studying for level 1 in may. I bought the Kaplan schweser books as it is easier to follow. The CFA books are too lengthy and a lot of “fluff” in there it seems. I suggest buying the Kaplan schweser to prepare
Agree with Kaplan for Level 1. This works for me, but I know others don’t think this way - I do the module readings first and then drill down on the qbank questions right after. What I got wrong on qbank taught me a lot more about either where I went wrong on interpreting the readings or if there was a better way to think about a concept.
Med schools kids are big into UWorld for their super clear descriptions and it’s usually harder than the exam—helps to walk in overstudied and prepared. I haven’t used the CFA qbank that they have, but I have heard that others benefited from it.

Hope you are very at accounting for level 1. Your series licenses will be of no real help.
Securities exam and CFA exam are two totally different ball games. Most people spend 8 months studying for level 1.
I believe it. I'll try to schedule it for May possibly
I think it’s impt to get the books for level 2 and 3.
Study time 400 - 500 hours. Give yourself time and if you want to take Feb start NOW. Be consistent and give yourself a month to review and do mocks and questions.
Planning to hold it off for the May exam
I gave level 1 , 6-7 years back ; if now i start - I will be starting with level 2 rght ?
I tutor it if you need help. I’m on wyzant too.
