Alvarez & Marsal Alvarez & Marsal Can anyone speak to associate salary for the disputes and investigations practice? If you could shed light on the makeup of TC and WLB (i.e. typical hours worked) that would be great!

Coming from Big4, salary seems like the relevant figure here as bonuses in Big4 are not impactful, especially at the associate level. In Dallas, the associate salary in D&I is maybe something like $65-70k. So nothing too impressive, but the bonus potential is uncapped. So A&M has associates who will make $70k salary and $25k bonus. WLB depends on your team and how busy your partners are. But remember. The busier you are will directly impact how large your bonus is at the end of year.

Can be true. To be honest D&I is probably not as bad. But other practices like restructuring and PEPI are probably more cut throat. It really depends on the partners you work for.

Also, in Big4 (audit), my director wasn’t even making $200k. He’s as close to partner as you could ever be. And he doesn’t even make $200k. At A&M you could make that as a manager or even senior associate. The SDs can make up to like $400k or $500k on a good year without even being equity holding. In Big4 you can never touch those numbers except for super rare circumstances in Advisory. And if you’re like “well life’s not all about money”. Hey that’s fair. There are easier jobs out there with better WLB

I’m currently at a medium sized tech startup. I was interviewing for a role that would be a bump in pay and title at a multinational public F50 company. At first, the hiring manager and head of legal were very complementary about my experience. Almost too much so. After a week of interviews with the team (softball-esq), I was informed that if I wanted to join, they would bring me on at a lower title. I’m not sure about comp yet. But if comp is still an increase + experience at a public..

This may be an unpopular opinion.

But I think it's kinda shitty that when FAANG people get laid off, everyone feels bad for them and they get so many resources to get rehired, but the same is not true for people that get laid off at smaller lesser known organizations.

Like those FAANG people will be fine, they got generous severance packages. The people who actually need help often get overlooked or are forgotten.

I have offer from Bosch.

Offer - 12.8lpa fixed + 1.2lpa variable +1lpa joining bonus (level 51)

will they revise my package?

Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to ask for too high of a salary during an interview?

I had an interview end early because they couldn't match my salary ask despite me being a "perfect candidate" (their words). The range was the same/lower than what I currently make, and their role was for a more senior position. I gave a highball range but I figured there would be some negotiating. Maybe that company just isn't the right fit for me, but I'm just thrown off by how quickly the call ended after that.

Anyone taken REG this Q yet and can give insight on what areas were heavily tested on for you? It's my last exam and I'm on a marathon to pass it before FAR expires. First time I took it last November resulted in me getting a 74 and losing all motivation to study after being so close to finishing, so I honestly haven't touched Becker in almost a year and don't even remember which areas are the big ticket ones to focus on. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I’m going crazy in Audit, I’m an A2. I think I’m going to try and transition to consulting. Would it be smarter to stay within the firm or go to a new one, and is there a half-step I should take (such as going to TAS for a year or so) before going into consulting? I just want more exposure to companies I work on than just the audit, it doesn’t feel like stuff I’ll be using in 5 years (but I’d be happy to be proven wrong on that). Business strategy/biz dev is catching my interest recently.
