Am I being overly dramatic for not wanting my next job to be excel heavy? I’m just really burned out on it - is this unreasonable ? Do I need to suck it up ?

Are you really just trying to say that you are sick of accounting?

Pivot to ERP Consultant, Project Management, Netsuite Consultant, there's so much you can do with an accounting degree and still make $$$$$$$$$ and not work in excel as much or at all really. You just have to decide what you want to do. What I have found is Tech Companies especially, accounting software companies looking for implement consultations love accounting pro's.

You just have to know how to market yourself, quite a few will pay for additional certs they want you to have.

Do you think experience as a DA or PD would be valuable, with my eye toward a future in FL? Both for the skills gained, and/or as a resume piece?

UPDATE (RE: SoCal Assistant Controller Interview)

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)
