Look for non technical PMM positions especially in B2B tech or startups. They might be more open to your transferable skills. Think SaaS companies, marketing tools or even tech consultancies.
One of my colleagues started in PMM as a brand manager. DM me if you like to learn more
I think it’s pretty common for people to go from brand management to product marketing, esp in the B2C space in tech companies. A lot of the PMM positions are similar to what Brand Managers do — ie. instead of a physical CPG product, you’re marketing a digital one.
When you say that roles you’ve come across require a technical background, I’m guessing it’s not B2C product marketing you’re interested in, but you’re looking for something on the technical side? If it’s a Technical PMM position that you’re interested in, then yeah the requirements can be a little specific. But there are also a lot of PMM positions that are not technical at all.
