Looking to make the move from working in industry to big4 and was curious as to what level and pay I might be worth?
I have 10 years experience out of uni, as well as completed CPA and MBA. I have a experience in managing entire finance function of small/medium entities, but most notably solid corporate finance experience/strategy leading refinance exercises, debt raising, hedging/treasury strategy etc…Would be looking for something in deal advisory / M&A / CFO advisory etc….thanks Deloitte EY PwC @

I asked and got six more weeks unpaid. (In California). I wish I had asked for more but I didn’t know I could! Definitely asking this time around
When my 18 paid weeks were up, I asked if I could have more time. They said I could have 6 more unpaid, but I should’ve asked for even more.
Ahhhh I so wish I had asked.. I just went back 3 weeks ago.. I’m not ready.. we are not ready
You can always ask for more time! The worst thing they can do is say “no”, but chances are they won’t.
I took 5 months off with each of mine and returned to a reduced schedule each time to make it easier. I just said “I’m committed to coming back but would like to extend my leave until x date.” Right now lots of employers are struggling with retention and if giving you the extension means they don’t lose you, they’d be dumb not to grant you the flexibility. We have a couple of employees who have extended their leave because childcare is hard to get with COVID capacity at daycare centers. So you could always say “our childcare won’t be available” if you feel like you need an excuse but you really don’t. Congrats on the baby. Going back is tough but I promise it gets way easier.
