I just got an offer from EY in London but considering based on what the maternity policy is which doesn’t seem to be spelt out in contract or benefits pdf. Does anyone know a) if there’s a minimum employment period to qualify and b) what the enhanced maternity pay is. I’ve read both 16 weeks and 18 weeks.

As someone recently back from maternity leave, it's a tough call. I had people reach out with questions regarding projects and that was super annoying because I wanted to focus on my newborn. But your situation is different, if you are close I'm sure she will want to hear from you firsthand that you are leaving. I would say call her and express your thoughtfulness that you did not want to interrupt her time with her baby but you also out of respect didn't want her to hear from anyone else that you are resigning. Mention that of course HR will handle all the particulars, etc.
Don't you have a different manager or the manager right above her/her boss covering for her while she's on maternity leave?? And also, HR.
There must be a boss above your boss - go to them and HR. You can email them after talking to them your resignation "letter" with when your last day will be.
@Publicis Thank you so much! Honestly the best advice I've received about this situation.
I know the mechanics of how to resign from a job. Was looking more for advice on what to say to a woman who is caring for a newborn and not concerned about work at the moment
I once left a resignation letter on boss's chair while he was out on vacation. In hindsight, I believe it was insensitive. I was young.
I first gave notice over the phone to my bosses who were at a shoot. I definitely wanted them to know before I went through any official channels, but they were both very understanding and supportive of it. And it helped me not burn a bridge by giving them the respect to let them know, as opposed to a me-shaped-hole when they returned.
Honestly not much coverage for her. I might just go straight to HR...
Mind telling us where you work? Home girl may be looking for a new gig and I'm curious if it would be a good fit with this insider knowledge. 🙃
Update - I had a really nice call with my boss, she was very supportive and happy I took the time to call her. Thanks for the advice everyone!
Are you guys tight? Could you send her a text and see if she can chat?
OP, that was not at all clear from your post wording until you explained. And yes, what Publicis1 said.
Nah don't bother her. I don't care how close you are. If you're close then send her a congrats gift and card in the mail and leave her alone otherwise on maternity. There should be people filling in otherwise.
