Any attorneys here work in AI law (if that is even a thing)? I am not asking if you or other attorneys use AI. Wondering if this is an area ripe for explosive growth and job opportunities, the way that privacy law took off over the last decade or so.

Not even a thing yet, but IMO privacy lawyers are one of the best positioned specialties to get in at ground level here. Tons of new laws on AI, and lots of complex privacy questions yet to be answered. I absolutely think AI counseling will be valuable/necessary experience from here forward

likesmart

Not a thing. AI is just a bunch of privacy and product stuff right now (consumer protection and regulated industry rules). There are a handful of AI laws but they are mostly just more specific rules about consumer protection.

likesmart

It isn’t really a thing, but I have seen a lot of privacy lawyers trying to make it one.

likesmart

Every privacy lawyer I follow is also getting asked to run AI

likesmart

I've been thinking about that a lot, joking with friends that the big winners in all the AI hype will be generations of lawyers who make a fortune off it. There are already active cases about copyright and right of celebrity issues (coincidentally, Taylor Swift even mentioned a ghastly AI violation in her endorsement posting this past week). And there will be any number of other issues that come along. Whenever I hear about how AI will come into healthcare I just imagine the mountain of lawsuits that will follow.

This was asked in the BL fishbowl and people said it’s not a thing. Now OP is in the privacy bowl where tech savvy legal folk are unsurprisingly saying it is not a thing.

And? I posted this at the same time in different bowls to hear different perspectives from people on the ground. Don’t read too much into it.

Not a thing. As D1 mentioned it’s a product/privacy thing. I usually get involved on AI projects/proposals from the business along with IP Counsel. We don’t have a product counsel so I do that too along with privacy and consumer regulatory 🫠

AI is simply glorified chatbots at this point.

Is it too late to investigate the ops manager for misconduct ? The ops manager has worked here for 15 years and is super valuable, the operation literally can not run without him.

I just bought an Alexa for my grandma's birthday. Her old radio broke and she's been kind of sad because she can't listen to her favorite music anymore while cooking, so I thought this would be a good pick. She'll have her favorite music right there.

Later today my grandpa tells me she's not been asking Alexa for her favorite music, but for her radio stations instead 😭😂
