Can I go from PE to consulting? I am a mid career PE professional. Mostly in growth capital. I always had wanted to spend some time in strategy consulting. But in undergrad I failed to get an offer, despite making it to final round at nearly all the MBBs. Later I went to b school but it was not a target school for consulting. Now I am more than ten years in finance. Can I try to get an experienced hire role in consulting given PE experience? Is that nuts? Is this “grass is greener” syndrome?

Is CPA worth it if I only work in industry accounting? I have my bachelors and masters in acctg, finished 2 years ago. I have 4.5 years experience in industry acctg, all at the same company. This company doesn’t have many CPA’s. But I’m worried if I try to leave this company in the future, I’ll get overlooked without the CPA. What do you think of someone getting CPA license but no experience in public acc? (I did a 6 mo audit intern in college, but that’s it) or maybe a CMA would be better 4 me?

Currently I work for a mid-sized InsureTech that’s had 2 rounds of layoffs in the past 6 months. Salary is 100k, with no defined bonus. I have close to 4 years of PO experience. I am debating whether I want to leave since my boss is very chill and I have amazing WLB. Benefits are eh. 15 PTO days and healthcare premiums are okay. Should I jump ship? Any attorneys in the Bay Area practicing just in estate planning (not litigation), can you give your take on whether you would get enough business to do only planning? I'm currently doing family law and I want to start moving away from litigation. For family law there really isn't a non litigation role that produces enough business (i.e. mediation). I do okay, but definitely have to take on more litigation than I prefer. I was thinking estate planning might be a good addition to the mix.

Backstory: started with a company back in July. Negotiated a very competitive salary package, I was able to work out a guarantee to take a draw for the first 6 months until I get ramped. How do you gracefully tell a partner that you don’t want to work on a client anymore? Partner doesn’t care for client either since the relationship is through a different practice group. There’s no one else to service the client. Client is very small.
