How to win friends and influence people.
Lol you just described me to a T
yes I was about to say this about myself !

Did you have good parents?
Not trying to be presumptuous or disrespectful - I had a similar issue until realizing that my friction with authority was largely because the original authoritative figures in my life didn’t do a great job and I projected that onto others. Now it’s much easier to be friendly and yes, vulnerable with folks irrespective of their level.
Came from a two person home. Both parents were MBA, CPA’s. Very driven. I have a good relationship with my parents, but they are not affectionate at all.
I was raised to be independent. They very much allowed me to make mistakes.
You can work with a therapist too. Bravo for recognizing this and wanting to improve. Self reflection is critical for success and you’re on the right track
That is my next step. 🙂
Lots of women are like this at work. I am a 40s M and have grown to dislike this about the opposite gender. It’s not fair to men that are decent and treat you as equals.
OP, same -all my issues have been with women. I’ve tried therapy and couldn’t find the root cause.
The 4 agreements
Be original, you don’t have to please anyone as that might leads to become a cheesy talker. Don’t give a f , show your value add and automatically every one will be after you. In my view, there is no s called like-able, it’s all give and talk👍🏻
Business Chemistry by Kim Christfort and Suzanne Vickberg is a very well written book.
I think that it may help that Deloitte already uses the lingo extensively.
Thank you!
@OP as I quickly mentioned before, I have had the same situation. Both super successful parents, at the same time treating me as one of their employees = authoritative. I think personally, you probably learned a lot from them. At the same time, it's important to understand your personal needs and how you act in the workplace. For me personally, I want to leverage as much as possible, strong woman from a strong background? Yes! Too many people in our line of work who are old school and instead of using their brain leverage old school tactics
This is helpful, thank you!
