Any Tableau SEs able to share some insights?
I have two years of automotive/aerospace manufacturing experience and am looking for new opportunities. I recently applied to a Solution Engineer - Commercial Manufacturing, Automotive, Energy (MAE) role at Salesforce, and it sounds like a great fit. It's going to depend on business unit and how successful they are. Mine is booming, but expecting it to fail this year due to government spending. I've hit OTE or ahead almost every year out of 8 years. The few times I've missed, it's a few grand short.
SEs are partially paid on a performance bonus, which can be paid higher or lower than OTE for the quarter. To get paid higher, they take money from someone else on your team, so they get paid lower. Make sure you promote yourself and successes with both your manager and your skip before the end of every quarter.
In negotiation, given the variability of your bonus make sure you're happy with the base. There's is a set pay range for each role, and they're not going to hire at more than the middle. After negotiating salary ask for RSUs.
Thats a valuable insight. I had enterprise/commercial SE role asked to interview for but things changed and its a role in outsourced service provider business. Ever heard about the this GTM strategy and group? Thinking 200k base ny location for principal se role per my research thats the max threshold.
I have noticed in my ou that they find ways to get you to ote bc they don’t want se’s leaving due to pay.
