I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY

1) People definitely do this and more than you’d think absolutely try (but aren’t successful in the process)
2) You can do this without burning bridges if that’s what you feel “weird” about. Some people will cuss you off but others will understand if you approach it tactfully
3) It all depends on your goals. Understand the trade offs involved. You’re essentially paying ~$150K to work at McKinsey instead of your T2. You will also have an easier time with promotions at your T2, etc.
I made this switch directly (not during an MBA) and don’t regret it, FWIW.
Is M going to pay for tuition?
Me? Sure!
Take it
Do what is right for you. You don’t owe anyone anything. I would perhaps give any mentors or leadership that you are close to at your old firm a heads up but that’s about it.
Highly recommend making the switch!
