If he's single and you have been friends for a decade, then it is best if you give him the hints or open up directly to move forward.
Don't waste your life! Go for it!
Good luck! Go for it! If it doesn’t work out, it’s good he lives in a different state.

He is your friend because you never wanted anything else. Go ahead. 😅
GSU, I believe they should be. I just never thought to check them 😅
Did you feel physical attraction in the last decade? If you did, why did’t you think about this then? Not telling you what to do, just trying to understand
He has always been a purely platonic friend. He’s always been attractive (conventionally so you could argue), so earlier dating days for both of us he was all over hook up culture and I wasn’t even thinking about him like that since we have a friendship and I was taken.
Aside from one other short phase (~2 months), I’ve never thought about being more than friends. Now that he’s been opening up emotionally in a very deep way it’s triggering all around attraction for me. And now we’re in different stages where it could be considered.
Update: I wrote him a long note in a greeting card and mailed it. We will see how he responds!
