Shit on Debra's desk
Preemptively ask for their advice. When reviewing point out where you tried to include their points. Overall if they are going to severely micromanage -- let them do more of the work, make sure you still get credit in their eyes, and spend your extra time focusing on other things.
Promote synergy
One additional thing -- if it really is to the point it is unbearable-- ask them, politely and in the guise of self-learning, what you have done in the past to make them think you won't meet the deadline, check your work, etc. They will either have concrete feedback you can learn from (which they should've been giving you already), or, if they say nothing, you can say that all the questions make you feel as if he/she does not trust you. Framed nicer than that of course.
But in reality, agreed with EY 1 try to show early initiative. Beat them to their suggestions
Haha it's always "Debra" or "Karen"
Thanks all! It's driving me crazy. Crazy enough to look twice at PWC1's suggestion
