I have twin girls who had a similar experience. They are 13 years old now, but way back when they were little, we put them in the same pre-k class and we were questioning if we should keep them together for kindergarten and wait til first grade to separate them. Their pre-k teacher recommended separation though. She said when one girl would leave to go to the bathroom, the other kept looking around asking about her sister. They weren’t gaining independence. So we separated them in kindergarten and it was fine. They now have very different personalities, friends, styles, etc. We didn’t have any hiccups with separating them.
