Anyone divorced or going through it, what was your experience ?

Does anybody have any experience getting a Grandpad or Jitterbug (or similar) for an elderly relative who is not local to you? My Dad is reluctant to carry a cell phone and never uses the flip phone I got him 10 years ago but maybe if it was more basic /easier to use he would (?) I told him if he goes out walking he should be carrying one. He has a history of falling a few times a year and I want him to be able to call 911 if he needs to. I’m a plane ride away. He lives by himself. He refuses

It’s been 3 years since I (27F) moved to Seattle and still don’t have a solid social circle. Not necessarily a big group… I’m talking 3-4 friends who are easy going and not flakey/ hard to make plans with.

Idk if it’s due to Covid, Seattle freeze, a combination of the two or other factors. Any transplants out there who are NOT the outdoorsy type and feel the same? And if so, how did you get past it?

Not in an envious way. Just... Damn, this sh*t can leave you very alone.

How do people make friends here? I have the ones i grew up with and a couple I made in the last couple of years (neighbors/through mutual friends) but I generally find that people here just stick with their social circles

Desi parents: what time do your kids go to sleep at night? We have a 23 mo and his bedtime schedule starts at 6:30 PM and he sleeps by 7 PM. This was suggested by our sleep consultant and has worked well for us, but recently we are getting a lot of hate for not bringing our toddler to evening dinners etc. We are being told that most kids sleep around 9 PM or being asked to put the toddler in one of the rooms. Every kid in my husbands family apparently doesn't sleep before 9 PM or later.

Anyone else experiencing parents who feel entitled to just go straight to super about things without talking to you first or to include them in an email?

How have you combated your fear of rejection? I fixate on such small things as when my friends, for example, reject plans I have made. This definitely makes me more averse to putting myself out there and makes me ruminate on past perceived failures, which are clearly not good for personal growth

Gift ideas for GF dad? We have been dating a year and a half, I get along with him super well. He is dealing with some medical complications so isn’t to active at the moment but loves cooking and golfing. Should I break up with my girlfriend? We have been dating for close to 2 years and there are some things that have irked me (her lack of care around finances, talks about her exes, super insecure about her looks (complained to me when she was drunk last Friday how no guys bought her drinks, I wasn’t there), has a terrible relationship with her mom and dad and gets upset when I go out for the weekend to hangout with my mom (father died horribly last year and she has been alone). Any tips for how to better implement feedback on drafts? My work is so heavily redlined that I struggle to consistently follow through with every comment/feedback. I am in patent prosecution, so it is a lot of detailed technical writing, but is also fairly formulaic, which is nice. Identifying a common process, what does this even mean 😩 please help.

I find myself in workshops and meetings, groups of 15-20 people, and I’m always the only woman. In my entire department, there are no other women.
