I am starting a new job where I will be investigating sexual discrimination cases. Employment law will be a new practice area for me. Do you have any recommendations on good learning resources? Any treatises?

I have done my graduation in electronics and post that joined core electronics company as engineer. After 4 years decided to go for post graduation and switched to BA. 6 years into IT services and I am currently working as PO. I really want to join product company but I am not getting any response. I don't have any domain expertise but have worked in industries like healthcare, retail etc.
It feels something is missing in my resume. How did you guys land product manager jobs?

Is it a viable business opportunity for a mid level patent litigation associate to leave BigLaw and consult? Service could include pre-litigation diligence (e.g., pre-litigation infringement analysis) for funding companies and law firms, overflow work, consulting for patent prosecution firms that take on ipr or litigation work, litigation consulting for tech companies that don’t have in-house counsel. I double major in Brand Management and Psychology. Any advice or direction on how to get my step through the door as a foreigner in this competitive industry?

What are your client follow-up/communication policies or practices? I’m hearing more and more that clients don’t like the long periods of time with little to no contact. From my perspective, since I bill for my time, unless I have an update or need something, I don’t initiate a call. Also, clients hold on to important info and don’t initiate a call cause they’re waiting for me to communicate with them.

How are you all structuring your decks for client presentations?
Basically, since ad school I've stuck with the tried and true format of Insight (1 line on a slide), Idea (1-2 slides w/ a line+key visual), How It Works (executions, etc), and that seems to be the format that a lot of agencies use.
Obviously, this will always vary by agency and project, I'm just curious about the broader structuring rather than getting into the nitty-gritty details.

How common is it for first year associates to spin wheels? In my 4th month, I spent 6 hours doing a return with 3 K-1 royalties, 2 Schedule C with few expenses, and the usual 1099-DIV/INT, including consolidated 1099. Budgeted time was 5 hours total. I have yet to get my return reviewed.

I like the client aspect of public accounting, flexibility and mentoring/training younger associates, but feel pretty meh about tax in general. I’m not doing another busy season even if that means leaving without a job lined up. What does a person do in this situation?

If I wanna leave the firm in December.. when do I have to tell to my audit teams? I have to be utilized well enough to get my 30 month experience till december.

Deloitte FL/PR is turning into a joke.. if firm morale wasn't already suffering from layoffs, they increase minimum hours through December while half the offices are unassigned. Abandon ship.
