Layoffs and furloughs thread. What firms are cutting and furloughing? Across all industries.
Accenture HR: When a prospective employer runs a background check, does HR tell them reason for leaving (quit, fired, etc.) or just dates of employment? Was fired in September and wondering if I am required to tell them (upon asking why there’s a gap) if I was fired or just that I decided to leave.
Does staying at a job too long make you less marketable? A CFO who worked at a company for over a decade and was fired because of cut backs was hired for temp work. An accounting manager of 6 years was hired for tech support. How does this happen?
I’m at 71k now at 1 YOE. Is there any good reason to take a pay cut for a new job? (Assuming I don’t get laid off or fired and have to scramble for cash)
Hey Fb friends - need an advise. My current firm hasn’t stated my GC process yet and with current processing time it appears to be somewhere around 12-15 months time to get PERM approved. In addition my current firm needs leadership approval & they make me sign a reimbursement form in case I quit. On other hand, I have approved i40 from my ex-employer (Big4) who fired me last fall, I don’t know if they will hire me back. Since I am from India and the date of filing appears like going to be…cont.
It’s restructuring season. KPMG, GT, and other firms have begun announcing layoffs. Everyone should take some time to polish off their resume. It’s a cold world out there and loyalty means nothing to your employer. Here’s to hoping that everyone lands on their feet and I’ll see y’all in a happier future.
Analysts who left in their 1st year either (voluntarily or laid off) where did you end up and how long did it take you? Consulting isn't for me and I'm obviously only eligible for entry level roles
Heard that you are not likely to get laid off for being unstaffed if you got promoted in the last performance cycle, anyone know if that's true?
Just got told by managers that my performance hasn't met their expectations. High performer last year. Am I getting fired?
In other news: Deloitte is full of trolls that are trying to convince you you're about to be laid off.
Why did Deloitte’s federal practice have layoffs? Given that the clients are large government entities. I can understand it happening in commercial but federal makes no sense
Given the current scenario, seems like getting laid off is a very real possibility. What is the severance package like at EY, PwC, Deloitte? Just curious
The more pedestrian your intellect, the better fit you are at D Heard of a colleague with an FRM charter being laid off today. Overall excellent person. And you won't believe who they promote year after year.. the character, curiosity and quality of the lifers Don't join this firm if you for a love of learning and to be inspired. Join if you are a middling who wants a good brand to hack ahead in life and rise above your station
Was lucky to get a job shortly after being laid off. Work’s not hard but feeling burned out cause of bad process, meaningless jobs on top of the pointlessness of everything happening. How you coping?
Fired without severance...haven’t signed anything yet. Is severance something that can be negotiated with HR? I have a call with them on Monday to discuss.
Looking at the way people are laid off, utilization is just one part of it. It's so hard to pin point what is (proper consultants let go from projects, etc..)
Anyone looking for a freelance graphic designer or illustrator? Just got laid off, and could use something to hold me over.
Firm: Mass layoffs/no raises after a year long busy season. It’s just business. Workers: Leaves right before the next busy season starts. Also Firm:
For folks exiting to FAANG / Product at start ups or really any hot company. How do you go about networking to get the interview? Do you apply then cold email someone you may have an “in”with, or are you picking say 10 companies and then having warm contacts there that you’ll ping when you see a job. I’ve been passively looking for jobs but zero luck, I only want to leave for the right fit. Big 4 here so feel my brand won’t auto get me an interview like mbb/t2
How realistic is it to be able to work 3/4 of the year in consulting/tech for 3/4 of your salary? I have seen mention of a few people who have been able to swing it. Do you have to work for a few years first?
Up for a promotion from SC to M. Just got an offer to work for a nonprofit doing the work I love, but with a 10-percent salary cut from my Deloitte base. Would of course have a better WLB. Thoughts?
I just got an offer for a part time internship. Combines both my current job skills (I don’t like my current job) and my passion. I want to take this and quit my current position, and it feels like a great transition position, but am a bit nervous to do so. However, I’ve been getting interviews recently and have enough savings for a few months if need be. Any advice or thoughts appreciated! 🙏
I’m a strategy consultant in a brand/design firm, specialising in traditional branding, innovation and experiences. Was wondering about avenues to join Big 4 or even MBB as an experienced hire to work in consumer branding/innovation. Can I go in as a specialist? Would I need an MBA on top of my business undergrad?
Thoughts on Grey NY health teams (I know everyone has mixed feelings on pharma in general) specifically the account departments?
By now, nearly every CEO of a major company has made some public statement or proclamation of their commitment to racial equality, diversity, and such matters. What percent of those do you believe truly comes from the heart and a bias for both personal and corporate action, versus a necessary public relations response with little personal ownership? My view: about 30%. That is still a great number, because it’s far higher than zero.
I got a new offer but in terms & conditions they have written - The company at any point have the rights to review and restructure its compensation package. My concern is this is common in every organisation offer letter. Please clear my doubt.
SA Cybersec & Privacy salary range at PwC?
Received an automated rejection email from a company... Four hours later, the recruiter reached out to schedule the third round interview. Huh? Am I living in the movie Groundhog Day?
Worked hard, won business and asked for a raise - got 10%. Now closer to median salary for my YOE. But it’s not in effect until my first year anniversary which is 2-3 months away. Should I accept the raise or negotiate?
Are folks getting RFE on H1 transfer to Big4? My question is specifically because initially your office location is the only one mentioned coz you don’t know what client you will be assigned?
Any one know of any smaller consultancies with remote roles? I’m getting pretty burnt out and micromanaged at my current role, and I know I could get hired at a big firm, but I don’t know if I’m
Has anyone bought a vacation rental in Orlando? Any tips? Looking at reunion, windsors, champions gate. It’s all a little overwhelming. I’d plan to rent it out part of the time on vrbo and stay there maybe a month a year.
My firm is planning to apply for a L1-A visa. Is there any benefit of this if I already have a green card?
I am a senior and new to the firm (switched firms) and I am struggling hard. The work I am given I think there is an expectation I can do it independently due to my level but where are so many gaps and holes I am not sure if they want me to improve the work or if it was by design. When I seek help I get pushed to someone new for answers.
