No I’m not fun at parties. I’m also a lawyer. You wanna waste $100,000... buy yourself a nice car. Stay away from law school.
I am also a lawyer. The doom and gloom is overdone because the other commenters are likely looking at mid-size to large law firms which is a very narrow slice of the legal industry. If you wanna be a lawyer, go to law school and it doesn’t need to be a Top 10-15 school. Then join a small practice that does what you wanna do for a few years to prepare to go out on your own. Dude I know a bunch of attorneys who went to decent, but not great, law schools and started their own practices and make great money. Better than EDs at Big 4.
BigLaw is the same as Big4. Don’t go to law school to practice in BigLaw. Go to law school to start your own practice and own your life and your schedule while making really good money
Even at very prestigious law schools people have trouble finding jobs. You have to be pretty passionate about law to go into it nowadays. Everyone wants to play their own reimagining of
Suits
Law is terrible job market.
Bet kpmg1 is fun at parties. Thanks for the response EY1
Or 300k depending on how inflated tuition is at your chosen school. Also lawyer here. Dont go to law school unless you get full ride scholarship to t14 school. Even then, thi k about it long and hard before leaving your paying job in a decent career path to start anew career
Regulatory compliance, potentially fraud investigations or other internal investigations practice?
EY1 is the only person even reading my question. I get the law market isn’t great and it’s expensive and people hate it. I’m asking if audit opens doors
OP - have you gotten a lot of experience with a particular industry/sector in audit? Among the attorneys I know, the ones that are super specialized seem to have the best practices and loyal clients. One buddy of mine mostly serves car dealerships. Another one focuses on federal drug cases (won’t even go to state court). I would think audit could lend itself to being counsel for small CPA firms, being a regulatory compliance specialist, serving a particular industry that you already know inside and out from auditing clients in that business. Lots and lots of possibilities in law
