Anyone here dreaming of a literary future when the law school debt is paid off? I'd love to be an editor, write book reviews, translate books, or something else in that world.. I did this before law school and I'm looking into what I could do in publishing after I'm financially independent.

I had a good friend in law school whose first plan was to be a writer and plan b was law school. He struggled for a little but now has a writing job he enjoys!

I wrote a little children’s story and would love if you would share your thoughts with me!

I'd enjoy that :) I have a 12 year old, and younger neices and nephews.

I’m about a third done with a book I started in a January but the 300 hour months have made it hard to continue…

Hope you can take a week or two off at least in between jobs. And I hope your new job is a lot more humane! I can't imagine even a single 300 hour week.

I haven’t been at the market for 8 years, and I am struggling with bragging a lot. I don’t even know where it comes from but I downplay my achievements a lot. I practice Buddhism and bragging is not the best trait for a Buddhist for sure. But downplaying is not a Buddhist trait too.
So I guess the question here is how to reframe bragging into something more acceptable...

There’s nothing inherently wrong or toxic about my firm/my job…but I still feel unsatisfied. I thought I would like marketing/working directly with the public to acquire cases but I don’t ☹️ I also hate the adversarial nature of litigation. Any one else felt this way? What did you do?

If you’ve decided you just don’t like practicing law, especially after several jobs, what have you done to leave? Do you feel compelled to use your JD in some way because, “well, I already got it”? Or are you okay moving in an entirely new direction?
I’m thinking of starting a new business unrelated to law. The JD and practice experience will obviously come in handy with typical business management issues like negotiating and enforcing contracts, basic HR issues, etc. (Cont. in comments)
