Yeah that's a good reason to be clear about the range on the role in the first call. Also, if recruiters ask your current salary, you can just tell them it's in a similar range and don't give a solid number.
Yes! This is becoming a new fun trick that recruiters and companies are doing. They get you to apply with a high salary range on the job posting and then pulled the rug out from underneath you and hit you with a significantly decreased salary range. It is sneaky and awful.
That can happen. In some states it's legally required to include salary ranges in job posts. So it's done as a perfunctory move to comply with the law, and it may not reflect what the company is actually offering. It's always good to take what's in the listing with a grain of salt and check the veracity of it before things go very far.
Oh ya! Has happened a few times. I immediately lose interest in working with them, but it's still better than finding out about the bait and switch after 3 interviews.
I have had that happen a few times. I be sure to document the salary range on the job posting to show recruiters later if they differ. Some recruiters say it's a mistake, but if they're not being meticulous posting these jobs I feel like we have the right to fight for that compensation because they are essentially false advertising.

It happens. Some job boards actually post an estimated range. This can often be misleading as it is fine print.
Glassdoor even does this. Anytime you see “est” near a salary figure on Glassdoor, it is an estimate that their system posts base on what their algorithm says the content matches in their database. Has nothing to do with the employer or their compensation plan.

I’m always leery of recruiters. How do you know which ones to trust?
