I think following your passion is great if you're really gifted in something. And even then, it's hard work... just ask any professional dancer or athlete. At the end of the day it's about being persistent and working hard, day in and day out. There are no shortcuts to that.
That’s never a fun position to be in, I was in this exact situation 3 years ago. I left a 13 year career and actually moved into supply chain. I had to sit down and look at my current job lay out what I really enjoyed and what I didn’t and found the Procurement function fit really well into the list of things I enjoyed and was able to move forward there. Happy to connect and talk about this in more detail if you need it. Good luck!
Honestly I don't mind my job. It's not the best and definitely not what I always imagined myself doing but it pays the bills and it's not so stressful that I can't handle it. If you're willing to go through hard times and potentially make serious adjustments to your lifestyle in order to reach your passion then go for it, you only have one life. But it doesn't hurt to be appreciative of what you have.
That’s a tough place to be in but just make sure you really understand your goals and what you want to accomplish long term. If it makes you happy and you are committed to it I am sure you could make it happen! And you could probably come back even later on.
