Without reading the roles description, this sounds like post sales account management. Implement the client and make sure they’re happy. Potentially work on upsells, have calls with them on a recurring basis to see how they like the product, the types of enhancements they need, training them on the product and future enhancements, invoice them, etc. Probably work internally to configure the software to the clients need and backlog future enhancements.
It’s glorified customer service. Don’t donit
It’s based on what I’ve heard. I got approached for that role and it sounds cool but everyone I’ve talked to says it’s customer service. You’re troubleshooting and hearing customers complain about the product. Lower base and they’ll try to seduce you with “commission”
Based on my experience with CSMs the role is more like account management. May have $ incentives for upsells.
Sounds like a demotion to customer service. The offer better be worth it. If you don’t might revealing, what was the offer?
Customer success is not necessarily customer service.
