The answer to your question is always yesterday. Tomorrow it'll be today.
It's not a matter of timing and predicting the future, moreso predicting the desirability of an area.
The point is, timing the market is a fool's errand. Stack real estate when you have the capital to do so.
As with any asset, it is very hard to try to time the market because prices should reflect available information.
Furthermore in an asset class with historically few price drops it is even harder to say “I will buy later when prices drop”.
Yet if you are looking at a house and more as place to live then it makes more sense to compare the cost to buy vs price to rent. There are some calculators online that try to do just that and see if buy or renting is more cost effective in different areas.
