Applied for a position at EY. Got asked to meet a partner for coffee. What should I expect? Is this a formal interview? Or is it just a casual conversation about my background and career goals?

Casual nature but a real interview and checking if you will fit with possible teams. Generally means in the hire column, let's make sure they can hold a 15 minute convo.

like

Checking to see if you fit

like

I got my verbal offer during the coffee interview but also had to go through the formal process

like

You're getting gypped. I had the partner take me to dinner. Lol. It was a nice informal interview. I think to see if I would fit in

like

Consider partner could be meeting with potential client, stopping by 1 of many teams to get updates on planning/out of scope etc...

I'm assuming the normal business casual attire that I wear to work currently is acceptable?

Ha no! Better suit up op. Always easier to take the tie off but not easy to find 1 when in a pickle

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. Thanks!

I asked for the range and he gave the range then immediately stated that I would qualify for mid range. My goal is to find a similar position to the one I’m working now and add 20-30% to my income, the high range would meet

I need to be able to leave work at 4pm to pick up my son from daycare, but i can get back online at home to resume any unfinished work at 8pm. Is this realistic to convey to any companies in an interview? Pandemic aside, is face time 9-7pm really important? Or should i just try to find a job with a salary that covers a nanny salary and accept that i will never see my son on weekdays (which would be sad for both of us)? TIA!

Got hired 3 years ago- newly created staff accountant role with the plan that it’ll go into a senior and then manager role. 1.5 years in I get a title promotion to senior, told I’ll get more duties, start supervising AP, and get monetary promotion to match next year. Got way more work, but nothing else promised within that year. Told next money bump would be manager role (no raise for senior still) and I need to take on more and start supervising AP. Again, seeing nothing…time to leave?
