Are certifications for six sigma and lean six sigma still valuable for careers? Some job postings are still listing it as preferred qualification, especially in industry. What about PMP certs?

Thank you M1. I appreciate it n concur to your comment to the post too

Everything is somewhat valuable especially if you don’t understand some of those concepts. Pretty easy to learn overall and good to have certs to be qualified for those positions,

I would suggest trying to figure out what you want to do in your career and if the certs are applicable, go for them. If you’re curious, go for them.

Having additional certs or learning concepts will never harm you, just make you better and understand how a lot of different projects can be ran

I believe LSS is currently valuable, but I think over the next 5-10 years it will loose relevancy. I am seeing it already myself, but a Yellow Belt is easy to get and can add the monetary value as mentioned above. And some companies even help you get it, so I don’t see why not get it.

For the 🐠 who are pursuing these certifications: do you pay for these yourself or are your companies pitching in?

Most organizations reimburse if they see the value add on..

LSS has been incredibly valuable in my career, and think it will be for a long time. My one caution, LSS is meant to be both academic and practical. If you can't get the practice in a real environment, leading/ helping people create change... you'll get 10% of the ROI you seek.

Is it the case here?
