Proofpoint seems useless tbh yeah, like idk if anyone cares for that. But CTPRA is so much studying and I’m wondering if it’s worth it. I don’t have third party risk experience at all really, mostly 8 years in security consulting and migration work. I am just getting into Third party risk but the cert does want you to have five years of experience in it to get the cert or you’ll be associate. I want to stay in cybersecurity in grc space so idk if it’s worth it or I focus on cissp and my masters in cybersecurity I am getting rather. I just want to use my time efficiently
I have a masters in info security not worth it. Hit the cissp directly
Most of the specific vendor certs are only good if you intend to work with those products. Generic industry level certs are better to show general understanding, vendor certs show skills for the tool/application
Omg Proviti and Bank of America , you both seem like you guys give great smart advice, can you guys be my friends lol
The certified Third Party Risk Assessor is a good entry level certification if you are looking to get into vendor management. If you have a couple years of experience then I would avoid.
Software specific certifications such as Proofpoint Certified Email Authentication Specialist are good if you are using that software but the disadvantage is they only have a short shelf life before they become obsolete so cost and time would be my consideration in getting something like it.
Most of them are a waste of time and job requirements, nice to have’s list will tell you if they matter.
