Attn: design directors!

I make $60K, oversee design for a handful of global brands at a large Chicago agency, have 12 years of experience (5 in this position), and have 4-5 direct reports. I suspect I have the lowest salary for this level at my agency.

I know negotiating advancement is about what I bring and not based on comparisons. I am just curious what other design directors in similar positions make. Spill it.

Hi! So i've been doing "all the things i was supposed too" since i graduated. I have two masters dgs, my admin cert, 15 years teaching, and all that good stuff. The problem is that I don't want to do it anymore. I think of becoming an admin and I cringe. I have a photo business that I have been doing part time for yrs and it's becoming just as lucrative as teaching, with so much less stress. Can someone explain how billable hours work? At a new agency and although I had to fill timesheets at my previous agencies, they were mainly used to ensure we weren’t over servicing a client/for setting the appropriate retainer for contract renewals. I asked ppl at my agency but haven’t gotten a proper explanation. I get the impression that billing to the agency admin code isn’t recommended, and my manager said he bills everything to client codes, but that doesn’t make sense to me .
