Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??
Did 4 rounds of interviews. Last 2 with 2 partners at EY. Haven’t heard back even after 1 month. One partner even commented “you will be a good addition to the team”. Hiring manager gave EY email after her interview call with me.
Fast forward two weeks, no communication. Recruiting was surprised that I was still chasing for this position, month later. Got to know last week that hiring team was continuing to interview candidates. Should I drop the idea to get hired? EY hasn’t rejected me yet.

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

No calculator, yes you are expected to be able to do the math on paper
Go get ‘em OP ♥️
Make your paper like an excel sheet and talk through the “formula” you’re using for extra brownie points
Make sure you can be calm and just have a conversation rather than like an interview
Okay cool but we are allowed to write the math out on paper as opposed to doing it all mentally?
Yes AC
Yes OP - in fact it is encouraged because the interviewer can clearly see your thought process. And it helps you also because if you make a small mistake like miss a zero or something, it is easily identifiable and the interviewer will observe this too and give you brownie points for it.
@op Wishing you luck !! Which office?
Thank you!! It’s for an associate role in dc
Awesome thank you!
@op whens the interview?
Tomorrow
@op Awesome!! How has prep been going? How many live preps have you run through?
The prep has been alright. I haven’t done as many live cases as I would have hoped (probably about 4) but I did one with a BCG consultant that HR organized and he said I did well. I know all the steps of how to do a case well it just depends if I can put all the parts together during the interviews tomorrow. Do you have any tips for how to spend my last night?
@op Would probably focus on some fit question prep, looking through your resume, browsing the bcg website, and catching up on whats going on in the business world. Are they flying you in?
That’s what I was planning on doing actually. And no I’m local in DC
@op Whats your desired location? Usually final rounds are the location of choice.
DC is my desired location! This is only the first round though - it is in the office in Bethesda
@SC1 Im guessing you work for BCG? And where are you based out of?
@op I would be lying if I said I am- I am just another candidate hoping to make it. Best of luck, would love to hear how it went!
