Now if I fail to clear the client interview round, will I not receive the offer letter that is promised by the HR1?

How does one go about a resignation mid-leave when you would start the new job before the leave ends? Two weeks notice or just say I am not returning effective the day of the new job? How would you compare Accenture Federal vs Deloitte GPS in terms of prestige and overall career growth/exit opportunities? I'm currently leaning towards Accenture because of their massive investments in the tech space.

A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? Specially that he considers the potential layoff is purely based on the current situation (chargeability was low) and not on his performance (they said that his contribution to BD during his bench time was low)?
