Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Midtown in which city?
Marriott Marquis. Nice lounge, smack in the middle of Times Square.
Essex House is great. I think it is in midtown
The lounge at the Essex house is one of the best I’ve been too and I travel 200+ nights a year. Great property. Top 5 for me.
Pwc2 that wasn’t on the ops post when we responded fyi
Hard pass on the Marquis. You’ll want to blow your brains out waiting for the elevator. The new Renaissance has a really nice lounge. And it’s newer. Renaissance TS also has a nice deal for Plats. Lounge in AM for bfast and tickets to order from bar menu in evening
I actually spend a weekend at the JW. Lounge is great. The weekend breakfast is essentially a restaurant meal. You honestly can’t beat what you get for the points.
I am Marriott gold, so something with a lounge would be nice but not a must.
If midtown Manhattan, I’d choose one of the Renaissance properties
JW
Manhattan.
If in midtown it’s either the Essex house or Ritz Central Park, no others need apply.
Op says he’s point conscious. That takes Ritz and JW off the table
Don’t listen to these knuckleheads. There are plenty other Marriott/SPG options available if you are just looking for a bed and shower. It’s NY, so you should be outside most of the time. NY is very accessible so don’t worry about transportation. Pick a hotel within 2miles radius of TS and you will be fine.
JW is same amount of points as most of the other hotels (45k per night). Can't justify double for the Ritz. Have not stayed at the JW. Are the amenities that much better? JWs are inconsistent depending on the city. Some are really nice but others are on par with Renaissance.
You’re in New York, who cares about amenities
Stayed at Marriott Marquis a few times. Right in the middle of everything if that’s what you’re looking for, and decent lounge as well
OP agree re JW inconsistency. I like Essex House and think it is on par w the other good JWs. However, I did not use their lounge.
The autograph and the the Marriott in the 50s on Lex are both good for a weekend. I think the Ren on 57th just got a makeover. The residence (don’t laugh) on 53rd and Lex is also newer, and i got my parents a good deal with pts. It’s not like you’re going to be there much anyway
P2 have heard that about the marquis. No consensus here but thanks for the input so far everyone.
W times Square is good IMHO. Lounge was recently updated. Rooms are nice for nyc and there is a good chance you get an upgrade.
