Best study program for passing the patent bar?

After completing 20 years as a Law Enforcement Officer with the Feds and on the way getting a JD and passing the Bar… trying to transition to an Immigration Attorney position… easier said than done!

Has anyone got any tips for making a strong start to a consulting career? Have 6 months experience and trying to temperature check how things are going / what I could do more of.

I am looking to product management from program management, any recommendations on books to read, courses etc

Why is it so difficult to make the next career move within your OWN company. I have over 7 years of experience across multiple departments and yet an external company is more willing to give an interview to select roles than your own home company for the same role internally!!

Where is the loyalty in that !!??

Been in consumer insights all my work life (10 years) and considering pivoting to product or product marketing manager roles. Yet I have had some interesting convos for people manager roles in insights recently and wondering if I should maybe refocus my efforts there. I’m looking for a broader mandate than just my immediate pipeline. I have been enjoying insights but grow frustrated by the lack of decision-making power. I rather would want to take a path with high long term career potential.

For those who have obtained the CFF certification:
I was asked to put together a working plan to obtain my CFF credential. I’m aware of the 2 certificate program (Core and Specialized) through the AICPA that will lead to the CFF. Does anyone have experience in how long it would take to complete the certificates and if there are other necessary or helpful study materials that would be useful? For background, I’m 6 months into working at this firm and have touched a variety of cases.

Has anyone found a way to automate salary certifications?

We get about 3-5 requests daily to fill out salary certifications for our employees in EMEA.

At the moment, we have to do all of them manually. We open a pdf, then open their employee file and plug away. It's tedious and time-consuming, but the banks I found won't accept an internal salary certification for some reason. They're adamant about using their form. Has anyone come across this?

Hey, so I was offered a CDP position as an analyst in Accenture starting this fall, but today I just found out I got the Fulbright scholarship to be an ETA in Thailand for a year. It’s an honor of course, and I’m thinking about asking my recruiter if I could delay my Accenture start date for a year. Would it be worth it to do so? Is it even possible?

I feel burnt out by how ruthless the tech industry in US is, but I also know I’m making much more money than people outside of tech or consulting.

I am working on a NFOA for a design case. The Examiner identified a primary references and four secondary references. The Examiner also pointed out five differences between the primary reference and the claimed design. For the reply, I found nine additional differences between the claimed design and the primary reference, two of which are not present in any of the cited references. What do folks find most frustrating about patent prosecution? Drafting, OAs, client relations, other?

For me, I dislike drafting the spec to explicitly recite the basic things it does, eg, server talks to client to do <basic action>.

If a client asks law firm A to transfer a couple of patent prosecution cases to law firm B, does law firm A need to deliver all relevant documents to law firm B? Can law firm B just submit POA and access all the files via Private Pair? Thank you

How long does it take you to draft a patent application on average?

In prosecution, if a patent attorney does not try to remove prior art cited by an examiner (eg a 130 affidavit to assert an exception under102(b)(1)(A)), but instead makes arguments to overcome the art, may the attorney made an admission that bars removing the art later in prosecution. Just received such a transfer case, looking for options.

Bit of a niche topic: I’ve been in TS/SCI processing for a Science/Tech/Weapons analyst position with the CIA for 3 yrs since I finished grad school in chemistry, but CIA positions are sort of set it and forget it since they can take so long. I’ve since been focused on a Patent Attorney track and am with a firm that will support me taking the patent bar/law school. If I get through processing and go to the CIA for some time, do you think would I be accepted back into patent law later on?

I’m a patent pros. paralegal working in bio/chem at my firm, 26 yo with an MS in Chem at 100k and a 115 hr billable req.
After the mental beat down that was grad school, I’m happy to have straightforward tasks and mentally coast, but my attys want me to start studying for the patent bar asap.
I like where I’m at and I know that once I start down the tech spec/agent/attorney path, it’s going to be full speed. How long do you think I can/should stay in this position before starting to study?

Does anyone’s practice also include patent lit? I’m thinking of switching from prosecution to litigation (my firm has separate lit and pros practice groups). If you practice patent lit, is there anything that you dislike about it/anything you wish you would have known earlier?
