I would honestly send to a PPMD you're still friendly with and let them know while you understand the idea in principle and that it was probably designed with positive intentions, it's on the face of it pretty insulting and they should let recruiting know this may not be the best approach.
If you really needed a job and were willing to take a lower level role, you can always apply for one. But they shouldn't come back and suggest you start your career over because you were let go due to a global crisis.

Not sure I understand. You were let go through no fault of your own because the job was downsized... now thereās an open spot and theyāre giving you a first shot and your response isnāt to be glad that the company reached out to hand you a lifeline if you needed it... itās to be upset? How would you feel if you hadnāt been able to find a job? Too proud to take a step back in order to put food on the table? I get that this isnāt the same as ā09, but have some perspective.
And no, companies arenāt required to do this after RIF.
@EY 1, if EY let you go during a pandemic, then offered you a janitorial position a year later, would you "have perspective"?
Deloitte recently tried to recruit me for 50% under my current TC because, and this is a direct quote, "Our superior culture needs to be taken into account when you're considering the full equation. We really are the best firm to work for."

With Deloitte people leaving in groups, and those who are still there s*ting on the culture here every day, and these PR disasters, what are Deloitte partners thinking? They have destroyed the brand and donāt realize this is not a long term business model. Soon they will have to beg for talent.
