Bringing this topic to the broader bowl: why is product manager at a big tech deemed a more respectable role than an internal Consulitng/biz ops role? I have interacted with some product managers at big tech. It seems to me the focus of PM work, especially at a big tech, is quite narrow: you start off improving a button, a UI, a small feature release, and nature of the work is very operational. Can someone explain to me the reason behind MBA grads flocking to PM path vs. say google biz ops?
