Use a food planner/tracker like My Fitness Pal to track carbs. The free version works perfectly fine. In the morning, enter your planned meals for the day (before eating them) to make sure your carb count is within range. Then stick to that food plan.
It is only complicated if you complicate it. Just leave the bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, starchy, vegetables, like corn, and sugar off your plate. Eat a little more meat, eggs, nuts, dark, green veggies, and cheese if you’re OK with dairy.
Switching what you drink is helpful too. Water, sparking water, coffee (with heavy whip and zero sugar coffee syrups.)
Start simple, Eat burgers without the bun. Have steak with a side of bacon/asparagus/Brussels sprouts instead of baked potato. Have shawarma or falafel without eating the pita or rice (or fries!). Snack on olives, cucumbers/pickles, nuts. Avocado dip with bacon chips (over cook your own)
Like eggs? Frittatas and omelettes all day. Cheese all day as a snack.
The first 3 days are the hardest for me. Once I'm passed that, smooth sailing.
Easiest swaps- low carb tortillas, burgers without the buns, lots of water and start taking magnesium!
