Can you use your Amex for pretty much anything as long as you pay it back?

Technically no. Not supposed to be for personal purchases. With that said, sometimes it happens and I'm sure people do. Just consider what would happen if you couldn't pay off when due monthly. That's when it becomes an issue.

like

Yes

like

I'd highly recommend against that. Don't mix your personal matters with the firms unless you absolutely need too. e.g. Forgot personal card when out to lunch or got gas, etc. We had an associate get fired for using their card for clothes.

like

@OP, Why can't you simply get a personal card for personal expenses?? If you use your amex once in a while and pay it back it's fine I guess but why take chances and lose some valuable reward points

like

The way I see it is, it's ok if you get caught in a jam and need to purchase lunch or gas on the corp card. Totally different story, and not acceptable to go out and purchase clothes, a round of golf, or something of that nature. It's not worth potentially losing your job over

like

No, not supposed to use for personal use. Also it doesn't make sense since there are credit cards with better perks.

like

Ya

You can, but it's not the best idea to go wild with it

I got an email that I was 3 months last due. I was basically told to pay it by the end of the. Ext business day or they will fire me. I have a personal Amex and paid the balance of on that without realizing it wasn't he corporate card which is why it was so far past. Needless to say I was shocked at the email and paid it within the hour

I've done this before and got an email saying that it can affect the firms independence. I don't remember exactly what the email said, but it also said personal spending on your Amex is prohibited. But I'm sure people do it all the time just make sure you pay it back on time. I think it only becomes an independence issue if you don't pay it on time.

^im talking about in an emergency. Other credit cards aren't working due to fraud and you need it. I keep my Amex in my car at all times and have forgotten my wallet before. Only way I got home was bc I happened to have that card in my car and used it to get enough gas to get hkme

You should not keep your Amex in your car...or any card for that matter. How many times have you lost your wallet? How old are you?

^where did I say I lost my wallet? I said I forgot my wallet.

Why bother? Get a card with rewards

Sometimes I'm out for dinner or need gas and I use it and pay it back by the next pay period or so. But I'm not out buying furniture and clothes with it.

I've inadvertently had Uber charges on the corporate Amex, which no one cared about. I'd be very careful using it for anything other than small purchases which are paid back on time though.

This is a question about friendships. Two friends got into a really bad fight this past weekend. They have each asked me to hang out this weekend. What do I do? I don’t want to have to choose sides. One is a friend I’ve known a little longer and has been a good friend and so she would feel betrayed and angry if she knew I were still friends with her now-enemy. The other I’ve known less longer, but we seem more compatible. Advice??

It’s so nice that every agency laying off people, have those left standing (and other agencies) trying to hustle jobs for their unemployed friends, but there are also a ton of people who were unemployed prior to Covid...so no severance, job hunting lot longer, and not earning income for longer time...hurting even MORE due to quarantine.

Which CC is better for sign-up bonus - Citi Premier 80K points or Chase Aer Lingus/Iberia 100K Avios points?

I churn somewhat regularly and am under 5/24 by 1. I think Citi's points are more valuable but maybe I should knock out another Chase card before I'm at 5/24 again, even though Avios isn't as versatile?
