Cannot seem to pass, and it's been two years now and I think they're going to promote someone within the next year. Pressure is on, but I'm up against someone else who is already a CPA. Is it worth me putting myself through hell again or should I just relax and consider moving on if this doesn't work out?

How many times have you tried & failed? How many times have you passed (if you've passed any?)

Do you really want it to work out? I mean, that's the question you need to ask yourself first.

I do! I'm going to try my best this time.

I mean what are your long-term professional goals? If it's promotions and you know the competition has the CPA then you gotta do it. But if you're ok doing something else down the line, not necessary. How many times have you taken it so far?

I know! I don't know if I can go through it again, but here we go, I guess!

If you are content with what you have accomplished now then I say take the mental health break. But if you know the fact that you didn't pass will weigh heavily on you in the future then the best thing is to strategize what to do

Let me ask you first, if you are willing to move on, will there not be what ifs? If you are not sure then maybe think twice before you end up deciding. I am sure there is an answer out there for you

I bet that is quite the pressure you have weighing on you. I think your best move is to not try and compete with that person, and beat the CPA first without all that pressure so you can focus.

I'm SVP/strategy for a PR agency. I moved into PR, Healthcare, and Strategic Planning only 3 years ago. An agency recruiter is trying to convince me to move into a GSVP account role, assuring me "at that level it's all strategy." (I dont think she understands the words she's using. Or that I'm qualified). But long-term, knowing account roles are so much more plentiful than brand planning in PR, I'm wondering if I should start thinking about account. Anyone here moved from strategy to account?
