Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!
Any Spotify people here? Noticed there’s an AM role going at the moment in the UK but not sure what experience level it is. For reference I’ve got 6 years in ad sales experience with 3 years management (both in music industry). Would this be comfortable or is it worth holding out for AD?

Yes. Pay is adjusted by location to reflect cost of living differences, so NYC makes more than McLean makes more than Plano. Location also matters for many teams (again) after the pandemic, so your opportunities will be different in different locations. Auto is pretty much all in Plano, Commercial is primarily in NYC, and McLean has the most opportunities in Card.
Sure, DM me
I spent a few years at Capital One; there is also a huge people center in Richmond.
As C1 mentioned, auto is in Plano, card is mostly McLean but also Richmond, bank is mostly in Richmond but also McLean, and NYC has CRE and "capital one labs," which is supposed to be an innovation center.
I spent decent time in three of the locations and don't really agree about card being the most respected part of the business. Card is good if you want to focus on micro-optimizations that have big impact, but since it's such a mature business you're not going to be solving many white space problems or building much that's new new. Just depends on what you're after.
There are pay differences between locations but they don't make up for the difference in cost of living (you'll save the most money working in Plano or Richmond).
I don’t work at capital one but I work right next to their HQ in NYC and it seems like there’s a lot of external career opportunities as well. JPM office is to the right of the building and Bank of America is to the left 💀
Plus I go into their office to use the atm every now and then
