All things equal, I am aiming for 35 months / 3 years from today 🙏🏻

I am pushing pretty hard to get my paid off actually. I'm following a program called Financial Peace. I have a couple thousand more and I am hoping to be done by the end of this year!

like

That’s awesome! Love Dave!!!!

I did this for lulz and…with no additional interest, 216 years. 😂🤣🥲😅

like

Well, if the 25 years of payments is for real, then I'll be in my 60s when I get the remaining balance forgiven and have to file for bankruptcy to pay off the tax obligation of that forgiveness.

like

Since 2021 and at least through 2025 forgiven student loan debt is tax exempt at the federal level. It will vary from state to state. Some states have actually changed their laws to make it taxable income when it wasn’t before…because politics.

A large tech company. My offer from Amazon was similar.

The graduate did help because I geared it towards AI. The first side project I was put on was AI related. I also have a background in data analytics and programming in various languages (COBOL, assembly, Java, C++, Python, and more) as well. I had about 5 years experience as a software developer. The company I went to was a vendor for one of the products I used daily, so I became a subject matter expert quickly in the products. The graduate program helped in the extra push over any deciding factors, but the experience really got the foot in the door to be taken seriously.

I finally paid mine off last year took me 10 years. Thankfully, I’m done with that.

Congrats! Must feel so good

I will be well into my 80s. So, never.

But I'll likely take advantage of PSLF in a couple of years.

I wish we had PSLF. As far as I know, in Canada, we only have it for family doctors and nurses who go work in remote locations.

I’m throwing money at them so 1

10 years

10 more years.

I can pay them off in three years if I move to a one-bedroom apartment. I'm undecided if I want to make that sacrifice yet.

I lived in a 3 bedroom apartment in Boston, MA with multiple people. It wasn’t that bad. Just make sure you have good roommates and a good bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen.
Common rule was if we don’t see it or smell it then it does not exist.

But is it us paying for it or our children?

Yup til I die 😭

So in short - 25K+25K = 50K for Both Parents or is it just 25K for both.
