Thoughts on account executive roles at Google?
What ways is it worse?
Can you explain how it’s worse?
There are so many benefits that most people loose track, here’s some of my favorites - 50% 401k match, heavily discounted car rental, 2k contributed (if family plan) yearly HSA, free food in office, almost fully subsidy parking at your office, fertility benefits, education reimbursement (a third) even if not related to job
It’s all publicly available, chill out - just following our mission statement, pal
Healthcare benefits are great, Google contributes most of your deductible to your HSA with $0 premium (for individuals)
Really the pro move though is to max out your HSA every year, never use it, and self-pay for healthcare until you hit the deductible
Premium = $0, Deductible = $1,400
Google contributes $1,000 to HSA
One option is to use your HSA to pay for healthcare, which means your out of pocket is max about $400/year ($15/pay period) before you are covered. Less if you don’t use healthcare much.
Instead, a lot of people treat it as just another retirement account. Max out your HSA, $3300/year, invest it, and pay for healthcare out of pocket until you hit $1,400 and never touch the funds in the account. Either way, Google still deposits $1,000/year.
HSAs carry over year to year, have insanely good tax benefits, no capital gains, income, free distribution at 65. Also, if you ever do need cash out of it, you can just go dig up an old healthcare receipt and submit it for reimbursement. If you can afford it, it’s better to never touch the funds in your HSA.
Agreed with OP and G7. My spouse is McK and the insurance is better than Google. But other perks at G are superior.
Following.. what are the premiums and deductibles like?
If you get an offer ask your recruiter for the package options
McK benefits are pretty much top tier in most regards…
Almost free healthcare for your entire family, automatic 401k deposits whether or not your contribute, fertility benefits….Only thing we’re missing is a direct reimbursement for fitness expenses

For what it's worth my manager is ex-McK and he RAVES about how good the Google perks and benefits are.
i joined google from mckinsey in 2019. mckinsey’s medical benefits are far superior. it’s not even close. google’s “other” perks are fun tho.
Baby with Deloitte - $250 (doctor) + $250 (hospital)
Baby with Google - At least $1500 out of pocket
Both over the course of 9mo.
Both with EPO/PPO type plans. Similar tests, blood/lab work etc. Either it's an Aetna vs Anthem thing, or something else, but Google certainly costed way more out of pocket.
